These Are the Roots of a Bottom Line Without the Brilliance

  • Nearly 25% of underrepresented men and women felt stereotyped in their previous job and at at nearly twice the rate of white and Asian men and women.

  • Less than 23% of whites people and more than 63% of blacks believe that black people are treated less fair in the workplace than whites. The difference in understanding is  huge. 

  • In tech, 40% of men from from underrepresented groups, such as African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans, were likely to leave the workplace due to unfair treatment.

  • Women in tech leave their jobs at 2x the rate of men.

  • Working Americans who reported recent or current change were almost three times more likely to say they don’t trust their employer (34% vs. 12%) and more than three times as likely to say they intend to seek employment outside the organization within the next year (46% vs. 15%) compared with those with no recent, current or anticipated change.

  • Research shows that workplace stress leads to an increase of almost 50% in voluntary turnover. 

These are detrimental realities.
The same underlying causes exist everywhere. There are huge gaps in understanding and people are tired. The moments of disrespect are subtle. Yet they're common and clearly felt. Power dynamics within hierarchy is real and to talk openly about differences is scary. If you're lucky you are hearing some of the things really going on beneath the surfaces...
To exacerbate the problem there is this thing called diversity and inclusion training. It's the cutting edge fad or a best attempt to bring out the  best in people. Consequently, you're being told to do this thing that makes the problem worse. The annual training is seen as lip service -- words that offer false promises that don't change anything.

Our story grows as do the stories of discovery between our clients and our team.
At HeArt of Inclusion we share stories that become the foundation of our collective strength and creativity. We find a true source of brilliance within our differences. We create experiences every moment where the unseen can find breath and expression.

 

We are deeply versed in the power of story within context to inspire extraordinary happenings. This is why we continually expand our team to include different perspectives and experiences--so that the genius of our approach can bring forth the brilliance of everybody.

Jeremy Capdevielle

Founder | Cultural Strategist | Experience Designer

 

As a first generation light skinned Mexican American I harnesses the power of his appearance with the lenses of his mixed heritage to create truly inclusive workplaces (AKA "magic"). He has taught workshops on group dynamics and facilitation throughout North America and have accumulated over 3000 hours leading programs geared toward diversity and inclusion (AKA intercultural discovery and inspiration).

 

Jeremy received his BA in organizational behavior & international entrepreneurship from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. At JFK University he received a masters level certificate in drama therapy.

He has designed and facilitated experiences in contexts ranging from sustainable development in the Amazon of Ecuador, Diversity + Inclusion with executives, and for corporations on the cutting edge of organizational change and development. I deliver change beyond the lip service by engaging people through art and story that is grounded in research, experience, and group developmental and systems sciences.
